Untitled Poem
Here is an oddity, a handwritten poem without title, signed by Braley. I found it written on the front page in a copy of Morgan sails the Caribbean. It is not great, but a typical Braley nevertheless.
With a Yo Ho Ho!
and a greeting hearty -
For Katherine O'
Shea Ule barty -
(Oh, it's well I know
That the "haick" aint present
Where it ought to show,
But a rhyme is pleasant
In an autograph
so I changed the name
To fit the rhyme
Which I made for same!
This is a terrible verse
I admit it gaily
But there has been worse
from Berton Braley
