Grammarians constantly will endeavor
To tell the world, and its kin and kith,
"A preposition is what you never
Should THINK of ending a sentence with!"
But it is a rule that I won't be ruled by,
And one I feel I am quite above,
And one my passion will not be cooled by,
When it is YOU I am thinking of!
For you are the lady I like to be with
You are the lady I love to talk to,
To be ashore or to be a-sea with,
To walk with, any old place I walk to:
You are the girl I always yearn for
The one I think of and dream about,
It's you I'll struggle and work and earn for,
The one I'll never get on without!
It's you I constantly want to gaze at,
It's you my fancies are dwelling on,
It's you I'm anxious to toss bouquets at,
And whom I center my hopes upon,
Oh say it's I that you want to cling to,
And mine are teh hands you'll put your heart in,
That it'll be you I'll slip a ring to,
Which means a wedding we'll both take part in!
To marry you is my whole ambition
Which I'm hoping your fancy blends with,
Don't shy away from my proposition
Though a preposition is what it ends with!
